This Border Leicester Wool is spun at a regional mill with only Crown Hill Farm’s fibers from our mindfully-raised eldest sheep — Sarah, Abraham & Lily.
I've dyed these skeins with colors from our natural dye gardens and foraged on Crown Hill Farm property. “Oh My Gourd” is made from two varieties of coreopsis varying in color from adjusting the pH of the dye pot for sections.
This earthy, rich orange was hand-dyed DURING the 2024 Erie County Fair inspired by the August sunshine and abundance of coreopsis blooms coming in. My assistant and I were teaching about fiber and selling yarn by day, an dyeing this batch by night. Due to the nature of natural dye, there may be slight variations in color throughout each skein.
Everything from Crown Hill Farm are Heirloom varieties and Heritage breeds, sustainably and mindfully grown with respect to land, plants, animals and soil.
