What the heck is a CSA?

Community Supported Agriculture, or CSA is a mutually beneficial partnership between you and your farm (us), where you subscribe as a member of the Crown Hill Farm Community.  Together, we are nourishing your body, supporting our local community economy while also sharing some of the risk (weather or a failed crop) and reward (extra abundance!) of farming.

In exchange for supporting Crown Hill Farm with your membership, you receive a regular delivery of our farm’s harvest.  This means that you secure your good health by knowing exactly where your food comes from, how it is grown and what has gone into it. In essence, you get to know your farmer personally!

In alignment with the natural abundance of life, we are thrilled to once again offer both Spring and Summer/Fall CSA options.

What’s in the CSA Shares?

Our shares run bi-weekly and have a variety of options including: chicken eggs, duck eggs, and produce. In addition we have a variety of add-on options provided by other local farms and food-makers including mushrooms, artisan sausages and bakery items!

chicken Eggs

Our eggs are SOY-FREE from heritage hens mindfully raised on pasture. When you open your egg carton, you’ll see a rainbow array of pastel colored eggs from whites and blues to dark browns and pinks that come from our large variety of heritage breeds. We use herbs and essential oils to maintain health.
This year, we have a Spring Egg share and a Summer/Fall Egg Share option.

The 2023 Spring share runs for 14-weeks from March 9th-June 3rd and includes 7 deliveries of a 1 dozen eggs each
The 2023 Summer/Fall share runs for 22 weeks from June 15th - November 4th and includes 11 deliveries of 1 dozen eggs each

Duck Eggs

IMG_1980.jpg

Our duck eggs are SOY-FREE from heritage ducks mindfully raised on pasture. Duck eggs are simply wonderful to eat in the same ways you’d use regular chicken eggs. Many (not all) people who have chicken egg allergies can often eat duck eggs without having an adverse reaction. Duck Eggs are especially wonderful for baking and cooking things such as homemade pasta, custards, sauces, mayo and anything you’d like added richness. We calculate that 1 duck egg = approx. 1 1/2 chicken eggs in recipes. We use herbs and essential oils to maintain duck health.
This year, we have a Spring Egg share and a Summer/Fall Egg Share option.

The 2023 Spring share runs for 14-weeks from March 9th-June 3rd and includes 7 deliveries of a 1/2 dozen eggs each
The 2023 Summer/Fall share runs for 22 weeks from June 15th - November 4th and includes 11 deliveries of 1/2 dozen eggs each

Some flavors will feature Crown Hill Farm herbs and produce as well. Once again, we have The Savage Wheat Project as a contributor to our CSA options. Em Savage makes some of the most stunning breads and bakery goods I’ve had, be it her bread loaves, cookies, nut bars or mixes.

These bakery items are made WITHOUT white sugar, conventional wheats or ultra-refined oils. Although there is gluten (not good for people with celiac disease), many folks who have gluten intolerances find they can consume her items because of the non-conventional ingredients and use of natural fermentation yeasts (instead of manufactured yeast.)

We’ll be providing two different share options: Either a single loaf per share OR a Baker’s Basket that includes 5 items, one from each category: Bread, Breakfast, Dessert, Snack, Pantry

The 2023 Spring share runs for 14-weeks from March 9th-June 3rd and includes 7 deliveries of either option
The 2022 Summer/Fall share runs for 22 weeks from June 15th - November 4th and includes 11 deliveries of either option
